How Does A Writer Spend Their Days?

Certainly not looking glamorous as all get out! Most days, it’s about butt in the chair and getting the word count done. Nothing happens with blank pages.

A quick snapshot into my daily routine:

  1. Coffee first. Always. Rich, dark, & Italian.
  2. Meditation and stretching—To clear the brain and body of any residue.
  3. Check the stock market and my book sales.  Financial savvy is an overlooked part of being an author.
  4. Write! I aim for two thousand new words per day or a thorough edit of a chapter I fleshed out the day before.
  5. In the early afternoon, I hit the gym or do some activity like tennis or a bike ride—something to invigorate me and get me moving after time in a chair.
  6. Late afternoon is social media time. Crafting posts, replying to fans, or writing newsletters. This is a huge part of being an author in the 21st century….more involved than you think it is. Thank God, I enjoy it!
  7. I catch up on all correspondence before dinner, check my ads and craft my to-do lists.
  8. Relax with friends and loved ones.
  9. End the day with a good book!
